Invenergy supports Major County FD

Command center vehicle donation announced during appreciation luncheon for local emergency responders

Invenergy announced that it purchased a new command center vehicle for the Major County Task Force with a more than $73,000 donation. The donation was announced on Jan. 10 at an emergency responders appreciation luncheon at the Maverick Wind Energy Center hosted by Invenergy.

“Invenergy is committed to the safety of our employees, our facilities, and our community, and one vital component in keeping our community safe is the local emergency response team,” said Bristi Cure of Invenergy. “Last spring, local fire departments battled several large-scale grass fires in Major County. After seeing the dedication of the firefighters put into saving lives, homes and businesses across our community, we knew we needed to help.”

About 60 guests, including representatives from Invenergy, volunteer fire departments, county officials, and elected officials, attended the event.

“Invenergy is always there wanting to help the community,” said Senator Casey Murdock (R-Felt). “We are going to be looking at another big fire year with as dry as we are going to be, so this donation is well appreciated.”

First responders in attendance included representatives from the Ames Fire Department, Cleo Fire Department, Fairview Fire Department, Isabella Fire Department, Meno Fire Department, Ringwood Emergency Management, Ringwood Fire Department, and Major County Emergency Management.

“We are extremely grateful for this opportunity to deploy this task force command vehicle,” said Major County Emergency Manager Mendi Jones. “It is a substantial upgrade to what we previously had and now having the ability to refuel our trucks during task force runs is amazing because we won’t have to stop and regroup and think about fuel status. Instead, we will be able to focus on attacking the fire.”

Invenergy is committed to Oklahoma, having completed its first project in the state in 2006. Today, Invenergy operates three wind energy centers in the state, employs over 50 Oklahomans and continues investing in its project communities.
